That’s so coool! I really wish I could read hanzi so that I would understand all the cultural context of the text I’m reading (those that are often got lost in translations), but so I still get so intimidated to even to learn the basics
that's fair!! i think chinese is one of those languages where the initial learning curve is rly steep, but i do think it's ultimately very worth the trouble in the end (i might be biased, but i personally think chinese is a language with a greater potential for beauty, imagery, wordplay, etc than eng)

i currently have like 20 ao3 tabs open for them, and that's not even counting the fics i've already saved/read on lofter 🤩 although i do prefer the rarer version of this pairing so i have less good food to eat ripp

i should clarify that i've only been reading chinese fic for this movie lmao (i read one eng fic and got turned off by certain translations). ao3 chinese fic is pretty much 70% pwp and the rest usually has smut too, whereas lofter fic mostly ranks 0–1 on a spice scale due to censorship
