According to the ALA, "The Newbery Medal was named for eighteenth-century British bookseller John Newbery. It is awarded annually by the Association for Library Service to Children, a division of the American Library Association, to the author of the most distinguished contribution to American literature for children."

This is the complete list as of 3/14/2025! A goal I have once I work my way through my entire (or most of) my TBR is to read all (or most) of the award winners of the Newberry and Caldecott awards. Literature written for younger audiences doesn't exclude older audiences so if you're ever hesitant to read a book just because it was written for younger people take the leap! You can learn and enjoy the books too!!!
