What a fab list and cool setting! I must try some of these out :)

Can I also humbly recommend:

  • 'Cecily' by Annie Garthwaite (about the life of Cecily Neville)
  • 'The Pretender' by Jo Harkin (about Lambert Simnel and his time in Ireland, France and the attempted coup on Henry VII)
  • 'The Bear and the Nightingale' by Katherine Arden (set in Medieval Russia, a new priest comes to town and tries to convince people to forget the old ways.)
  • 'The Doomsday Book' by Connie Willis (A university professor discovers time travel and sends his grad student back to the time of the Black Death'
  • 'The Pillars of the Earth' and 'World Without End' by Ken Follet (follows several people living in the town of Kingsbridge as a cathedral is built and the church jostles for power.)
