It may have supernatural elements, but not too many. It may have magic, but subtle. The world may be a little different to the one we know, but not too much. It may be dark, but not full on horror (still adults only I'd say). If you like to read books to escape real life but you don't have the energy to discover a whole new universe, and also you're too emo for whimsy, you may like these books.
