preparation for Katabasis!

this is a collection of books I saw mentioned on booktok in relation to R.F. Kuangs new book Katabasis that's coming out somewhen this year. and since I am nothing but determinded I decided to make a list and try to read the ones I think are the most important (bc let's be honest I won't read all of them)

you don't have to ofc! some of the books are directly referenced in katabasis or r.f. kuang took inspiration from a few of the books, but you can definitely enjoy the book without any "preparation" :) the more "important" books from the list are at the bottom (starting with dante's inferno) if you're interested!

Fantastic list! I'm doing a "basic" preparation, if you can call it that 😅 Emily Wilson's translation of the Iliad and the Odyssey, Dante's Inferno (I found a translation I liked in Spanish), Alice in Wonderland, Babel (and the Poppy War Trilogy if I find the time), and I've also been looking for a good translation of Ovid's Metamorphoses to read the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice. However, since I already watched The SpongeBob Movie, Epic the Musical and Hadestown, I already consider myself an expert in such topics 😎

to be honest I probably won't read much more than that either xD but maybe I'll get to the other books somewhen in the far future, when I want to become even more insufferable with all my classics knowledge 😂 aahh a fellow musical enjoyer, love to see that 😌
