I teared up multiple times reading this, from the very first chapters right through to the end.
Kristin Hannah really knows how to write a character study, throwing her characters into situations and letting you watch them fight their way through.
I also loved that this story focused on the women who went to war, and the impact it had on Joleneâs relationships with her daughters, husbands, and the people around her.
I also have to say⌠I hate reading a whiny manâs POV, and wow, Michael really tested my patience at the start.
Overall, another fantastic Kristin Hannah novel. A brilliant character study, and I loved watching these characters grow from beginning to end.

I love seeing women absolutely boss their way through a high profile profession in a male dominated industry.
This was a great read if youâre after a bit of girl power and an FMC who can more than hold her own. It was also refreshing to have an older cast, with the FMC in her mid 30s and the love interest in his mid 40s.
Overall, a good read

This one gave me a bit of whiplash. I donât know what I was expecting going into this book, but it definitely wasnât this.
When I read contemporary romance, I like there to be at least a little realism. You know, the kind where if I squint hard enough, I can believe it could happen IRL. This one⌠absolutely not. There is no way Mina wouldnât have worked it out.
Once I got over that hurdle though, I enjoyed it. Very much a âgot with the wrong brotherâ romance.

I donât know what I was expecting from this book, but it definitely wasnât that.
This was heartbreaking, with a few twists and turns that kept me hooked the whole way through.
It almost reads like a romance crossed with a thriller, and I think the author did a great job of keeping it grounded rather than letting it drift into soap opera territory.
Frank, you deserved so much.
