I might be a bit biased because I'm an Ali Hazelwood super fan but I loved this one!

I'll be honest, I wasn't a fan of Hark in the beginning. He's wrestling with his feelings over a big dilemma, but that doesn't give him the excuse to treat Maya the way he did.

I had a lot of fun reading this one. I love Maya. I love Nyota. I love seeing Eli and Rue happy. I loved reading about my former home, Edinburgh (always home in my heart). It was pretty great.

Do I think that they'll stay together? No, Maya deserves much better. If Ali Hazelwood ever wants to write another book about her then I'm down.

Also, I have to add this, no student at Edinburgh uni would go to the castle before graduating. It's bad luck. Even the most skeptical uni student isn't risking that. That' the only part of the book that irked me.

I really wanted to like this book, but I wasn't a fan of how it was written. If you want to learn about the lives of 16th and 17th nuns and saints then this is a great place to start. In terms of getting a look at what life was like for nuns back then, this book does it's job. When it comes to using the lives of these nuns to give readers advice about how to navigate the challenges of 21st century life, it's 50-50. I think that the friendship and work sections of this book were the only ones which fulfilled the promise of this book. My main issue with this book is that the attempts to compare 16th/17th century life to modern life felt more like a juxtaposition than anything else. It was like comparing apples and oranges at times.

I was kinda disappointed but I did get to learn a lot more about female saints and nuns so it's alright I guess
