I am not loving the style so far But I do find the premise interesting so we will just have to see if it’s capable of holding me anyway

This book was meandering with no real plot - part memoir, part exploration of what home means I can enjoy this when done well, I didn’t like it much here though
The relationship of the author to his mother (the Doll, named as such throughout the book) was interesting, and I liked the way relationships and the idea of home was explored on a variety of levels
The prose flowed in an obviously poetic way, which I found to be mostly hollow and meaningless Kadare would describe things in a way that meant nothing, but sounded like it could, so it ultimately felt shallow and listless, like a teenager writing poetry about their breakup on tumblr He also consistently overused ellipses and it made me roll my eyes. It’s a lazy way to build tension and failed consistently

You can tell this was written by a poet (affectionate)
