Recurve had me hooked from the start. Lark comes across as a bit naĆÆve, but honestly, I canāt fault her. When you canāt remember the trauma that convinced you that youāre powerless, it makes sense that youād doubt yourself.
The story is packed with adventure, twists, and enough momentum to keep you fully entertained. Iām already eager to dive into book two.
If this series leans into a romance arc, Iām hoping itās not with Cole or Ash. Or I should say I hope she doesn't end up with them because Lark and Cole are def hooking up. Theyāre fine, but they donāt feel like the right match for Lark.
And the Graphic Audio edition? It transforms the story into a full-blown, dynamic performance that absolutely delivers. I loved every minute of it.

I LOVE the Kingman family, and this book reminded me exactly why. Iāve been waiting what feels like forever for this one, because it features my favourite trope: best friends to lovers. Give me the yearning, the slow dawning realization of āoh no⦠Iām in love with my best friend and maybe always have been,ā and I am a puddle of goo. And of course, with this trope comes the delicious dilemma: Do we leap and risk the one relationship that has always been my safe place? And this is so important to Artemis, who never really felt like she could rely on anyone but Gryff.
Book six follows the Kingman brothers, Gryff. Along with his twin and best friend, as they move to LA, where his brother casually gifts him a house. GIFTED HIM A HOUSE! Of course, he doesnāt want to live alone; he hasnāt been alone ever with his crazy, hectic family. So, he asks his best friend since high school, Artemis, to move in with him. And Artemis says yes, naturally, because Gryff is her home.
What follows is mutual pining at its utmost finest. Two people who know each other better than anyone else, circling the truth theyāre both terrified to name. The tension, the comfort, the history, well, it all hits exactly the way a best friends to lovers story should.
The narration was utter perfection. I loved it so much that it gave the story depth even when it was silly at times.
If you love slow-burning longing, emotional stakes, and that heart-squeezing moment when friendship shifts into something deeper, this one absolutely delivers.

An introduction to the Romance genre, these books are part of the cultural zeitgeist or the 'canon' that many would recognize. Look for more niche titles in later Starter Pack volumes.

š§āāāāš§ Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin Audio for the opportunity to listen and review.
This book pulled me in from the very first chapter. Itās a fresh, atmospheric spin on vampire lore, packed with forbidden love, family feuds, and a heroine forced to confront a dark new destiny. After a tragic car crash, she wakes up to a world transformed, one filled with secrets, danger, and blood, and absolutely no going back.
If youāre into supernatural twists, that spooky vibe, this is definitely one you want to pick up.
Highly suggest the audiobook; the narration is fantastic. Gail Shalanās character work is so immersive that you feel like youāve stepped straight into the storyās universe.
