I wish I had enjoyed this one better. I didn't dislike it, but there were sometimes I had to make myself keep reading. I think I just found it at times uninteresting. Which was disappointing because I loved the Kyoshi books, I hope I will like the second one better.
I also feel the sentiment that others have mentioned about Yangchen feeling more like a side character. I think she's really interesting, especially with her connection to her past lives and her story abouther sister, (Which I really wanted more of becausewe don't see much of them togetherat all and only small flashbacks. I wanted to know their bond and connection more, because this is something that affects Yangchen even years later, so I wanted more because I struggled to feel emotional of it because of the lack of connection of their story to the reader.) but I want more about her, I wish the story had more of a focus on Yangchen as a character instead of so much of the world politics. I do still think the politics should be there, but I just want to be more focused on her as a person and also to learn more about Air Nomad culture, as they are my favorite nation of the Avatar world.
I really like Kavik, but I almost wish he hadn't been another prospective so much because I feel like took away from Yangchen. It honestly felt more like Kavik was more of a main character than Yangchen.
And the general plot honestly didn't grab me greatly.
I liked the audiobook narrator pretty good. They didn't act too much, they mostly just read the story with a slight voice change between character genders of ages. But I would much rather a narrator who doesn't act out the story much than one who acts it out and does a bad job as that has ruined books for me. So, I think they were good, but don't go in expecting a movie like reading experience with different voices for each character and high emotion.
