I’m at book 2 where it’s all from Jacob’s pov and istg this shit runs for over 100pgs. As an Edward stan, I can’t believe I have to endure this many pages of Jacob’s thoughts before I get back to Bella’s pov yall I’m pissed💀

I'd love to hear what bookish gifts you all got!
My friend got me two books that were on our bookclub's TBR, White Nights by Fyodor Dostoevsky and a french book about forgotten female authors called Actrices: ces grandes oubliées qui ont fait la littérature. I can't wait to read them both.
Please share with the class 🥰
Happy holidays to everyone celebrating 🎄🎁🫶🏻

I've been watching Sara Carolli's bookmas videos, and she has inspired me to branch out and try new things just to see what I like because I'm clearly in need of a change for 2026 when it comes to reading. So any recommendations for someone who wants to get into literary fiction? Would love them to be a bit fast-paced and contemporary since I really don't know what I like and don't like yet.

I've seen a few different star rating charts and am working on mine and I'm curious how y'all go about deciding on your ratings?
This is my current system: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - Loved, highly recommend ⭐⭐⭐⭐ - Liked, recommend ⭐⭐⭐ - Mid, might recommend ⭐⭐ - Disliked, won't recommend ⭐ - Hated, will actively go out of my way to tell people about how bad this book was because I can't get over the fact that it was published and that people like it and recommend it. There is hope for the rest of us wannabe authors.

Are there any books you own that you're determined to read in 2026?
I'm compiling a list of 26 books I own that I want to read in 2026 and I'm curious to see which books you'd pick and how you make that choice (also I'd love to get to know different tastes😍)
Edit to add some of the books on my list:

Does anyone here want to try to get into a new genre in 2026? What is it?
I am trying to get into more japanese/korean literature next year, and for those who love them, would you mind recommending me some? I prefer something light and short like 200-300ish pages. Thank you!

Hey all! I don’t really have a lot of Christmas books in my tbr but for the last couple of weeks of the year I would love to read some cozy Christmas books so I would love it if you guys had me recommendations. Romance recommendations are especially appreciated but I’m open to any genre! Thanks!

Easy 5 stars. It was that good. I loved the plot, the characters, the emotional chaos… everything.
That said, I’m officially hitting pause on reading until I finish finals 📚😭 Wish me luck, because the book hangover is real.

In 2026, I want to read more classics and I also want to read books from different countries, so I bring up this question.
What are classics from your country that you would recommend?
I feel like we all know about classics written in English, but there are so many more out there that should also be appreciated!

I have always had a love-hate relationship with the classics but as an adult, I’ve been really enjoying revisiting some of my high school favorites as well as ones I didn’t get the chance to read in school. That said, I’m planning my bucket list for next year’s reads!! Are there any classics that you think are an absolute must-read?
Some of my favorites are:
The Count of Monte Cristo The Picture of Dorian Gray A Tale of Two Cities The Sound and the Fury Orlando Literally anything by Toni Morrison (I took a Morrison seminar in college where we had to read her whole literary canon which really made me love and appreciate her so much more!!!) Cat’s Cradle

so i've been wondering if any of you have tried to read and then dnf'ed or paused a book more than once. my example is Around the World in 80 Days by Jules Verne. i started it twice (once in english, once in german) and both times i got through more than half of it but never finished reading it 🥲 the second time i started from the beginning again because the pause was so long. it bored me both times tho, so i am not inclined to try again.
i'm curious to hear some other cases of this!
