With the weekend on the horizon what you planning on reading this weekend? Are you finishing a book? Starting one? Do you need a recommendation for a book?
I'm currently reading two. Divine Rivals by Rebecca Ross, I'm struggling to get into it. Do Admit: The Mitford Sisters and Me by Mimi Pond, it's a brilliant 450 page graphic novel biography.

My nonfiction people!!
What's a nonfiction book you strongly believe that everyone should read?
Bonus points if it made you cry/changed your life
For me it's Educated by Tara Westover and Hijab Butch Blues by Lamya H. (I have way more)
(Also I just wanna yoink some books because I love nonfiction)

RoseTintedLibrary commented on RoseTintedLibrary's review of You Made a Fool of Death with Your Beauty
I kept waiting for the ball to drop with this one, for the writing and the story to reflect a title as powerful as 'You Made a Fool of Death With Your Beauty', but it never came.
The characters seemed... well, like characters, I didn't feel like they were real people, fleshed out beyond the scopes of what was explicitly written. I've read that exact plot half a dozen times in fanfiction, but it doesn't work with original characters because you need to care about them first to care about the story they find themselves in.
I listened to the audiobook narrated by Bahni Turpin, and they were incredible with their character voices and delivery of some of the lines, but unfortunately they still couldn't bring me to care about this book.
If I hadn't been reading it to achieve Pagebound's Mardi Gras + Carnival 2026 readalong, I would have definitely DNF'd this book.

What do you do when a book you want to read has a narrator you don't want to listen to? I've encountered some books I'm interested in where the reader's voice bothers me for one reason or another (often, because it's a flat monotonous drone) and I can't focus on the text. Have other people had this issue? How do you respond?

I want to buy the sequel to a book I've read and my original intentions were to buy it from an independent online bookstore (as the first book was chosen for their book club), but the book is £13.75 including shipping, whereas the publishers have a 50% off sale with free shipping for orders over £25.
I could buy the book from the online book seller, or I could get 5 times the amount of books directly from the publishers for less than half the price.
I know that I really ought to support the small business, but at the same time I feel like I need to support myself with making smart financial decisions, since I'm not rich and can't go around splashing money about without consequences. If money wasn't important to me I'd support the independent seller no questions asked, but unfortunately, I am in the position where I want to be more cautious with my spending.
I guess I'm hoping that someone can help give me some advice on what to do here? And how to not feel like I'm a terrible person for thinking this? 😭
