I mean, I chose the witch because I would love to be a witch, but I'm curious if that's the way other Boundlings choose across the board. (That said, I would jump at a dryad avatar.)
And for those of you who use the ghost or food/beverage ones... obviously this doesn't apply, right?đ

I love seeing all of the beautiful butterflies đŠđŠđŠ in my feed! And Iâve seen great conversations about reading streaks and excitement for monthly wrapped.
But I think itâs also important to remember that everyoneâs reading journey is their own. If you can get that gorgeous sparkly completion badge for the Spring Readalong thatâs great. But if itâs also not for you, or you donât have the time or energy for it that is also great. Donât forget to place value on your time and your energy. And if you lose that streak? Itâs not the end of everything. Maybe you needed to prioritize something else that day.
We can lift one another up and celebrate each otherâs accomplishments, just remember to not compare your journey with anyone elseâs and be sure to lift yourself up. Comparison truly is the thief of joy âš
Happy March, Boundlings! đžđżâïž

Currently trying to put together my March reading plan and I'm wanting to read a couple more quest books, and I'm just curious what other people's opinions are:
Would you rather work towards getting more new badges and keeping them at bronze until you've got all the quest badges you want, or would you rather work towards getting higher badges (sapphire/emerald/ruby) and just stick with fewer badges (for the moment) because of the higher tiers?
It's something I've been pondering for a while and I can't decide between them, on the one hand I love seeing so many badges on my stats page but on the other hand I have one sapphire badge and that is my pride and joy at the moment!

Though I'm not one to often read graphic novels, I really enjoyed this! The artwork is incredible and really helped bring the story alive and out of the pages of the novel. It did feel like it skipped over quite a few of the plot points from the first book and only briefly skimmed through others, I would've loved it to be longer!
Am very much hoping that the other Raven Cycle books get turned into graphic novels!

Hey! Random question, just for fun. Whatâs everyone using as a bookmark, right now? Mineâs a Scyther Pokemon card.
Happy reading, everyone! đ

How do you normally use your monthly plan? And do u stick by it?
What's your reading plan this month, if u started making it? And what's the most book you're exited to read?
(are you planning to reread anybooks this month ? đđŸââïž)
You don't need to answer them all if you don't feel like it but I also don't mind long answers

I've spent a couple of days ruminating on my thoughts of this book, as after finishing it I had the strongest sensations of detest against it, but couldn't quite place why. I think I have a better understanding of the reasons behind me hating this book.
Insufferably annoying are the first words that come to mind. The characters all act in frustratingly predictable ways, and the other characters neglect to see how glaringly obvious the outcomes of certain people & situations are and will be unless they change their actions / behaviour.
The plot too is overly predictable, and where the author may have captured my attention with wondering what was about to happen, I was already aware of the outcome due to the first chapter being set in the future and having already revealed the end result with the main bulk of the story being a flashback. I can't help but feel that a good author would have wanted me to care about the events that lead up to that ending if they were going to spoil it in the first few pages, but I really couldn't have been made to care less about the journey of these characters.
The writing style I was also disappointed with. I've heard so many people describe it as hauntingly beautiful, but I found it tediously dull. There is too much description which doesn't allow the reader to play any part in imagining the story; they must sit and observe as if forced to watch a slow and sluggish film. The imagery it conjures up is nothing to excite the senses, only to depress the mind and injure the soul.
I am gutted that I didn't enjoy what had been sold to me as a time-weathered and well loved classic, but I can't for the life of me consider why or how this book has stood the test of time.
Jane Austen once said "Let other pens dwell on guilt and misery," and clearly Emily Bronte said 'challenge accepted'.

How does getting an ARC of an audiobook work on Netgalley? Is it via the NetGalley app? Or do they give you a code to the book? The file?
I've seen some books I want to ARC read but they're on audio but I have no idea how this works

The Spring Readalong went live around 1:40pm CT this afternoon, so you can now start earning your Spring Readalong badges!
If you're still seeing the Winter readalong on the app's Discuss screen, you may have to exit/relaunch the app to force a refresh.
Reminder: If you've already read one of the selections, you can earn your badge by commenting or posting in the forum - but please do not post reviews or low effort posts like "I liked this" "posting for my badge" "I still remember reading this". Comment instead! The forums get a ton of activity during readalongs, and these posts bloat the forums and create a lot of work for our moderators.

Lately Iâve read a lot of reviews saying that a book is âtelling instead of showing.â Whatâs your opinion about this?
Personally, I like when the story tells me what the character is feeling. When it doesnât, I sometimes get a little lost, especially when it comes to emotions or intentions. I think âshowingâ makes us interpret a lot, and sometimes the character is so different from me that itâs not possible to interpret them correctly. I like being inside the characterâs mind rather than having to interpret their behavior.
I understand why a lot of people value âshowing,â since it can make a story feel immersive and dynamic. But I donât think âtellingâ is inherently a flaw. In fact, it can create a deeper sense of intimacy and clarity. When a narrative explicitly names emotions or motivations, it reduces ambiguity and allows the reader to connect more directly with the characterâs internal world. For me is easier connect in this way
