2 reasons for dnf’ing the book, both of which might seem petty - the lack of quotation marks (really irked me, such an eyesore), and the rather dry intro that somehow already introduced, well, you know… that. Not that i don’t care for stories with love making scenes, but for this book to rather start a bit dryly and with that, no momentum or whatsoever, i cannot even bring myself to speed read through the book for the plot. i’ve been wanting to try reading a book written by Sally Rooney, so i hope there are better books out there to start with. 🤞🤞

This is a promising book, story-wise. Maybe i’ve set my hopes up for this, having read nearly every book by Mitch Albom, to a point where I found myself already speeding through some of the pages. It was not only when I’m in the last 2 chapters and the epilogue that I took every word in and fully appreciated the book.
I read Albom’s Finding Chikka last year, and there was a part of this story where he sprinkled in some of his real life moments or sentiments, and it somehow brought me back to how Albom’s writing is really about - sharing a piece of him in the novels he ’s writing, and i kinda love him for that!
Minus the speed reading in some of the parts, this can really be a page-turner, especially how the story was structured. So, if someone wants to get out of a reading slump, this is one of the book’s i’d recommend to help get out of it.

I’ve had a collection of Mitch Albom’s books ever since I read Tuesdays with Morrie years ago. Story-wise, this is a good book; but for some reason, something irks me. maybe whenever Alfie of “twicing” back to a moment in the past? Maybe saying “twice” whenever he’s in the situation that makes him want to go back is kinda awkward…
