  • What author trait do you dislike or find bothersome?

I'm talking about a phrase, or a pattern you've noticed from an authors writing style. Or even just a trope or quirk you've picked up on on your reading journey! For example, in each of Sarah J Maas' books you'll find sentences like "Tired. He was so tired" or "Fear. She could smell their fear" and once I noticed this, I couldn't stop seeing it 🤣.

Reaper's Gale has so many elements of what I've loved in this series, but there was a lot holding me back from truly loving this. I was so happy to continue the Midnight Tides storyline. I loved the Sengar and Beddict storylines, Tehol and Bugg, the brother dynamics, Rhulad's rule, all of it, and was happy to continue that here. Steve also provides a cutting commentary on empire and greed through the interplay of Letheris, the Tiste Edur, the Bonehunters, and the Awl that is the main strength of Reaper's Gale over other installments. Despite loving a lot of the individual components, I had a hard time getting through this. As always, there were a lot of POVs and jumping around and while I was excited for the convergence of multiple storylines, I was less invested in this book's plot overall. By the end, I couldn't help feeling as though a lot of it was unnecessary, but I'm sure those plot points were secretly just seeds planted for the remaining 3 books. Overall this book felt like it suffered from middle book syndrome despite being book 7 or 10, full of getting the right people to the right places with some occasional battles and confrontations, but nothing resolute. Thinking this one will fall to my 6th favorite of 7 before House of Chains.

What is your typical go-to drink when you read? I usually make iced caramel latte, cappuccino or tea ^_^

This had me giggling and kicking my feet reading until 3am. It’s hard to find a romance novel that balances emotional buildup, fully formed characters that have meaning and purpose outside of the relationship, a compelling plot, and lack of cheesiness, but this series hits them all for me. I did find some of the miscommunication and dialogue a little annoying, but it’s minor in comparison to how much I loved this.

  • What are your audiobook recommendations?

In terms of the actual audiobook experience. I love when an audiobook can completely immerse me into a story. Sometimes it's not even about anything extra (but admittedly this really captures my attention!), but just the narrators themselves just doing a spectacular job. Or even when the author themselves is the narrator. Some of my favourite audiobooks: * The Inexplicable Logic of My Life (this is one of my favourite books which I'm sure I've already mentioned 😅, but part of that I attribute to how much I love the audiobook) * Lovely War * Daisy Jones & the Six * A Good Girl's Guide to Murder * Mrs Death Misses Death * I Killed Zoe Spanos

  • Book Trophies?

This is for predominantly readers of ebooks, or audiobook listeners, or even heavy library users. If you read an ebook, audiobook, or library book and LOVE it, will you buy the physical book to have on your shelf as a "book trophy?"

  • What's your favorite Emily Henry book?

In honor of today being the release day for Emily Henry's new book, Great Big Beautiful Life, what is your favorite book by her and which one did you pick up first? I read Beach Read first. Absolutely loved Funny Story the most out of all her books.

Immediately started this after book one to see what race/class they’d pick, but after that sequence I felt like it alternated between all world building or all questing/grinding without a lot of balance between the two. Excited for where book 3 will go!

  • so happy when I find a book on kobo plus

I didn’t know I Who Have Never Known Men was included on Kobo Plus!! The library holds are really long for it, and I couldn’t get into the audiobook, so I was going to buy it eventually. I’m happy to read along :)

Anyone else complete tog and acotar and are now having a hard time getting into crescent city?? I mean, I've started House of Earth and Blood about 3 different times and I never keep reading beyond the first few chapters. I LOVE SJM and I love love acotar and tog... I know CC is a wonderful series, but the fact that they have cellphones
