Not her describing Lucia as blue!! (For reference see my last forum post lol). Truly loving this. I am also really liking the vignette/diary entry style of writing.

  • Is the 'romantasy' label/subgenre detrimental?

I came across this post on instagram and the take honestly surprised me. I didn't realise 'Romantasy' was specifically for women-written romantic fantasies, I just thought it was for romance-focused fantasies, and it just so happened to be usually written by women. Personally, I much prefer reading romance-focused books written by women, with the exception of mlm books, so even if that was the case, it makes my filtering way easier. No man-written fantasy has ever scratched the romantic itch it tries to tickle into existence, and that's fine. If I pick up a fantasy book by a male author, like J.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings or James Islington's The Will of the Many, I'm not picking up a book for romance reasons, even if there are some in it. Honestly, I've only recently gotten back into reading so I dont have a grasp on it but the post claims that 'Romantasy' is a pink label and "it's giving... polite sexism with a glitter overlay". I'm actually curious to know what people think, and the Instagram post has the comments turned off so I thought I'd turn here!

  • Filter for Library

When searching through my TBR in my Library I noticed there wasn’t a way to search by book length. Sometimes I’m in the mood for a short book but it’s hard to remember which ones are less than 200pg. Is this just a me thing?

Had to pick this one up again before EOD lol. I found myself googling a couple of words (diaphanous, azure) and I noticed the use of blue as a description/symbol (?) for ethereal things/moments (butterfly, the sky, veins, diaphanous spirits). They really start to stick out after these longer sections with grotesque descriptions. Honestly really loving this book.

A little different from her first book. Feels a little surrealist. Liking it so far.

Book review for Set Piece by Lana Schwartz My second read from @831storieshq (first was Comedic Timing)! CJ and Jack meet one night in a bar
and something sexy happens hehehe. No but I really enjoyed CJ and Jack’s love journey and felt most of the time skips were perfectly placed. They felt so real and so vulnerable. We get to learn so much about them in such a short book. I did wish during the (spoiler) heart break moment where they are apart we got more YEARNING! It felt so rushed from this point until the end so that was a let down. Overall had fun! AND The spice and romance was cutey. <3

If you like the Smile movies or Mulholland Drive orrrr maybe even The Watcher then this is the book for you (saw another review mention it was similar to Shutter Island which I have not seen). FOR ME it was mostly good. By the end I understood all the in between chapters/documents but in the moment it was confusing which would’ve been fine if it had added to the excitement/suspense of the story. I think I also expected it to be a bit scarier than it was so it was just a tiny bit of a let down. I can definitely see this being better as a movie. Spoiler: The ending did answer the main question you have throughout the book (is she going crazy or is this a haunting/timeline thing) which made it satisfying for meeee.

Audio version. Honestly this has been a weird one for me. I went into it blind and was really into it from the beginning and then it felt slow at one point but now I’m back into it. Still not sure what the voice notes and documents are about but I’m vibing.

    So basically
Spice from the beginning. Which at first I was thrown off by but I’m seeing ~the vision~ now.
