  • New here :)

Hello, I am new here and I am loving this interface. It is super cute, and adorable. Anyone have any good tips, or what they like about this community? Just so I can see more of how people use this, and to see if there is anything I missed.

  • This kind of app was a NEED

I just downloaded this app and I'm having so much fun. I just feel like we really have community here - people actually talk about books, show their favourite quotes, praise some of them and complain about others. I feel like on Goodreads you sometimes don't get that, even with you mutuals. It's more about how much you read - not what and how it made you feel. And not everyone has in real life bookish friends or local bookclubs. So it's really just filling a space that was painfully empty 🥺

I used to read on Wattpad, but recently I’ve found it rather lacking, does anyone have a suggestion of another site to read online? I started reading and writing a little on Ao3, but I wanted other people’s opinions!

If you have any reading recommendations please comment them!

Buying book binding version of fan fictions?

Hi friends! Today I wanted to ask yalls opinion on buying book binding version of ff: do you think it's "bad"? I watched a reel today about someone who said that if you really want to have a paperback copy of something, you can do it yourself instead of buying it from people who will gained profit from it (they talked about it being plagiarism, but I'm not sure, I mean, if you buy a paperback version the author's name will not change? I don't know). Her page was all about teaching people the book binding craft. I had some thoughts:

    • you have to have actual time to learn a whole new craft from scratch
    • you need some money to buy all the material for book binding
    • you need mental space and energy in order to learn a new skill
    • you need to be able-bodied to do it
    • you need the physical space in your house to set up your project
    • you need money for all the trials and errors you will inevitably do (and so buy a lot of material)
    • also, maybe out of contest, but really? Do we have to hate on people who, whatever the gain is, will never become millioners over book binding versions of ff? People who maybe actually enjoy the craft of book binding and - seeing how everything is pretty expensive nowadays - wants to gain a bit from it to level a bit all the spending they did for the materials, and also maybe likes to share their craft? Also!! If one has to buy themselves all the materials in order to learn the craft, I think we can all agree that the majority would buy things on Amazon: so, is it better to give money to a billionaire or someone put there who just enjoy the craft? So, I found this discourse a bit abelist and privileged, but I'm still forming a whole opinion on this. What do yall think?

JUST TO BE CLEAR: my hard cover versions of the ff i love are made as a gift from a friend of mine who enjoys the book binding craft, but watching the reel i thought: what would I have done without my friend?
