Breakawayreads commented on Breakawayreads's review of Wickedly Yours (Witches of Pleasant Grove, #2)
As much hype as this book was getting, I was really excited about it. And then after the first shmex scene I had to DNF. Because it just seemed like it was really rushed and not what I typically read.

I just wanted to say hello. I have been on here for a while but never really used it due to the website. I would stalk daily to see when the app was coming and I was so excited when the app got approved. I’m so excited for this new journey and I am loving it here so much!

Post from the Dire Bound (The Wolves of Ruin Book 1) forum
Direbound is the first book in The Wolves of Ruin series, mixing dark fantasy, danger, and slow-burn romance. Meryn, a tough but vulnerable heroine, joins the deadly Bonding Trials to save her kidnapped sister. Reluctantly paired with a fierce Alpha direwolf, Anassa, she faces brutal training, political intrigue, and the harsh guidance of Stark Therion, a broody instructor who seems determined to test her at every turn.
The romance with Killian (Lee) starts hot and familiar since the story opens with them already together, but the arrival of Stark adds a sharper edge. The push and pull between stability with Lee and the darker tension with Stark gives the story a layered emotional core alongside the trials.
Meryn herself is stubborn, complicated, and sometimes frustrating, yet her growth is one of the strongest parts of the book. Her rocky but evolving bond with Anassa provides both conflict and payoff, showing how two equally strong-willed characters can learn to rely on each other.
I recommend this book if you enjoy academy settings, found family, and heroines who’ve had to fight for survival. Watching Meryn discover a pack she didn’t know she needed — all while caught in a complicated love triangle — makes Direbound a compelling start to the series.
