Every year or two i come back and reread this series and everytime im reminded why I love it so much.

World and especially character development is so good, you can read most of this book and easily forget how overwhelmingly evil the characters are due to how interesting and likeable they can be.

Easily still one of the top warhammer books out there despite its age.

First book this year I DNF and I have had some slogs to get through this year.

Got my copy from Broken Binding subscription and gave it a go got about 200 or so pages in and just absolutely nothing was happening with the plot, the book kept introducing characters who would have no significance in the story and every character was just a self important rich noble English man. The two main characters 200 pages in and I couldn't give you a definite character trait of either of them except one is a magician but the story actually has very little magic happening.

Also i dont mind the inclusion of footnotes in the book but when you have multiple instances of footnotes being entire pages it just comes across to me that this has to has context but the author couldn't write it into the story naturally so instead just goes hey you should know this.

Looked at other people's reviews and saw that people were generally saying the same thing throughout the entire book and it could of been shortened by 400 pages made me not waste my time with it when I was already starting to force myself to want to read it.
