I really wanted to like this book more than I did. While still a perfectly acceptable thriller and fine addition to the Alex Martel series, I think it fell flat in some parts. There were some strange writing choices throughout that pulled me out of the text momentarily, and I think some scenes that should have been extended felt like they had been shortened instead. One thing Urszenyi has consistently done throughout these three books is have incredible character work not often seen in thrillers like these. I’m happy to say this continued in this addition, but I also felt like we missed one big character moment that I would have liked to see on page. Still good, but definitely my least favorite of the three out so far.
