I believe a good writer can fight and win over anyone's book genre preferences. You might not read fantasy, but you will read N. K. Jemisin. When an author is so powerful that their writing becomes a genre itself, THAT... is my favorite genre.

The narration is smart, it takes real skills and study to write such complex world with so much ease and understanding and... irony (enjoyed that). As a reader, you don't feel lost. You know something bigger is happening but the author won't let you panic. You chill and keep reading. The world is ending but you've got it together. There is nothing overwhelming, not even the words you don't understand at first. They are just a couple, you handle it. It is even fun.

I found this book thanks to pagebound, actually. I'm not sure if this book is as famous as it deserves to be, but after a little searching i found out the author won 3 consecutive Hugo Awards for Best Novel, one for each book of The Broken Earth trilogy. I am so glad!!!

Now, i'll be reading the next book
