It was a very rough and depressing read. The ending especially. However, McCarthy’s prose is incredible. The style was very different than any book I’ve ever read and, even though I had trouble with it at first, I think it was very intentional and added to the story. It is definitely worth reading if you are in the right headspace.

I’m so glad I had the chance to read this. It gave me a new understanding of something I barely knew and was such a fun read. I loved learning about traditional Japanese culture. I definitely recommend this book for anyone interested in learning something new.
