I read this a long time ago and am reading it again because of new perspectives and understanding. I'm not the biggest fan of Atwood's style. It's very "stream of consciousness" in a way that feels hard to follow at times.
I do enjoy the heavy use of symbolism and reflection. For example, the rug in June/Offred's room on page 7. It is made of braided rags from things that have no further use. I think it's probably made from clothes no longer allowed in Gilead. The symbolism of that plus it almost taunting June in her room...
I may not be the biggest fan of Atwood's writing style, but her worldbuilding is on point.
