The closing 2 or 3 chapters were unnecessary. Also for some reason "she had showered and washed her hair" was stated a bunch of times. Once I noticed the repetition I couldn't unsee it. The concept is pretty cool but the execution could be better.

This is the most fun I've had reading a book. I was laughing and scratching my chin. Confused and entertained. Even the existential bits pulled back enough to not make my spiral.

Finally some weird horror. Leave it up to Ryan La Sala to create some fucked up horror in a feel good setting.

sigh, had this audiobook on hold on Libby since Dec, 1 copy, 65 people waiting, I'm 40th in line. Maybe I'll get to read this in 2027, if I'm lucky. Hoping they get another copy. I have 6 library cards, have tried Hoopla, done all the but purchase the book. I listened to the first one so I want to listen to this one too.

I really liked this book. It had a lot of qualities that I look for. The characters were complex, the magic system was really well thought out, there were homages to other magical media, and the "training montage" is one of my favorite bits of magical media. I think the only thing that took away from it was in the audiobook, the narrator (and author) did Wilders voice very nasally and whiny.
