Never has a book resonated with me so much. I’ll need to come back to give my full thoughts, but this book made me laugh, cry, buy a pair of binoculars, and begin a nature-based journal of my own. It is also the perfect season to read this. If you loved Braiding Sweetgrass or find yourself wanting a book that includes the natural world, read this!

    Reading Update ch 35

I love these books. I think part of what makes them so good is how Brown captures the trials of leadership, and how Darrow is actually becoming a great leader. I feel like we typically just see “the chosen one” randomly portrayed a good leader with no idea how they got there or even what makes them good. But Darrow O’Lykos has an entire story as to why and how, and he continues to progress as a leader with his inner battles depicted during each major decision, and it makes him so much more admirable and the story so much more realistic. ❤️Darrow4ever

I want to like this I’m… intrigued? But not sold. I’m having a hard time finding the rhythm of this book. And it just already feels a bit “self-helpy”

  • Negative opinions?

This place is so positive I feel too self-conscious to post anything negative about a book. Is that just me? Since the community is still growing it feels like a lot of spotlight on one negative opinion. I wouldn't mind posting a bad review on Goodreads but here I would feel bad 😅

    Shakespeare refresh?

This book is making me realize how tuned out I was in high school Shakespeare units… do I need to refresh to get the full intent? I can’t tell if I’m missing out!
