Ok so I’ve heard of the “Spellsong cycle” and “Mystwick School of Musiccraft”. But does anyone know books where the magic system is based off sound/song? (also if including sound, I’ve read the invisible college which was…mid at best and why is he in a relationship with his student at worst).
It’s for a story I want to write, where you essentially fight with songs, and you guessed it there’s a big bracket tournament. I just don’t know how’ll work, like would you have to learn how to freestyle beats and songs? What instrument goes with what and how’ll lyrics impact the attack.
Thanks and sorry guys 😅 maybe it’s time for me to learn music theory

I don’t really have bookish friends irl. They don’t have time to or it’s just not their interest.
I don’t really have bookish friends online, mainly because I have a hard time reaching out and bad at keeping up with online things.
I know book clubs exist, but I’m kinda scared to go to one. There’s one at my school but my friends don’t really care for it. I went alone and it was embarrassing. And also online ones exist, but I’m also scared that I can’t access a book. I have ku audible and libraries tho so I guess that fear is irrational lol. (Also where do I even find one??)
I’m glad Pagebound exists so I can spout my book thoughts, as well as find some new people. I love it here. 🩷🩷 Still always trying to find new folk.
So i guess my question is what’s your experience with bookish friends online or irl? Ik im not having the best of luck rn but i dont want to turn this into a rant about myself too much (i already did…sorry).

I have always wondered why do some people start their reviews with a whole paragraph summarizing the book? When I'm going through reviews, I have already read the official summary so I don't need to read ten other versions of it. Is it only because people copy-paste what they wrote on their blog where there is no initial context for the book? Wouldn't it make sense to remove this part where you're posting on any book review sites? I just struggle to understand (note that I ask this question purely by curiosity, no judgment for people who do that! 🫣)
