I'm so lost right now, I feel like I have no grasp on what is happening but I keep coming up with theories of what could be going on, which I think is the big thing keeping me intrigued right now!

I love a good cult horror book, so I'm looking forward to this! I've heard a few mixed reviews about pacing, but I don't mind a slow burn so hopefully it wont matter to me!

This was a fun pallette cleanser read. There really wasn't much going on, but I love a man obsessed with the women he loves.

I don't think I will be able to put into words just how much I love this novel. This story, to me, was so tragic and full of love, grief, lose, coping with change, discrimination, and ultimately family.
For the last four or so chapters I was continuously crying because I was just so anxious to see how everything would end. Yetta's death and revival, her soul being split in two and the original body of Yetta facing so much hate and vitriol due to superstitions (or religious beliefs?) I cried every time Yettas original body showed up, and the fact that all she wanted was to be with her family but couldn't because golem Yetta took over her life. Her father wanting to kill her, and as far as the reader is aware he never came to see her original body as his daughter again, but just a demon. The fact that both versions of Yetta in the end came to understand and love each other. Even the mother became such a strong and beloved character to me.
In the beginning I really felt for the father. His daughter had died and he was in such a state of grief wanting her back. Then as soon as he got her he took advantage of his ability to control her choices and emotions. He used her purley (in my opinion) to help his cause and did not take into account his daughter and her feelings, especially when he started seeing her as less of a person and more as a weapon. I understand wanting to defend your home and the community you have, but to go through all of that, to put her through all of that just felt like such a betrayal to how I hope a good father would actually act. Which in turn, made him actually a good character since I felt such strong emotions toward him, negative emotions, but I havent held such dislike in a character in a long time and was surprised by my reactions towards his actions.
I look forward to reading whatever else this author may create in the future, because Odessa was a phenomenal, beautiful and heartbreaking story.
