An amazing action-pacted novel about a fugitive hiding in the harsh Russian wilderness, a mysterious murder, and a professor trying to prove his innocence.

An epic tale about mortality, revenge, love, grief, religion, and, of course, whales. Herman Melville's writing is beautiful, and the sections some might described as "tedious" are actually one of the most fascinating parts of this book. You can't read this and not walk away without feeling like you've sailed the vast expanse for many years, troubled by your monomanic captain and Nature's offspring.

A relatively good book for anyone interested in religion, although the analysis lacks a certain depth

Poe's prose is so incredibly beautiful, despite being a bit complex for modern readers. I fell in love with the stories in this book, that despite being short, were full of details and emotion. My favourites:

Kind of overrated, the first part was a bit boring, but hopefully the book got better as it progressed.
