The mini-biography of "a bitter little hobbit". I absolutely loved her movies growing up, but now, knowing the struggles and the pain and grief she went through, I can honestly say I love her more... And somehow this brings me back to the issue of children suffering for a career vs. performance and grit or how she puts it in the book "gifted child syndrome on steroids". Are their sacrifices (not having a normal childhood) worth it in the end?

“You did not rescue me,” Casiopea replied. “I opened that chest. Besides, I wasn’t a princess in a tower. I knew I’d get away one way or another, and I was not waiting for a god to liberate me. That would have been both silly and unlikely.”

Can everyone please stop what they're doing and start reading this book yet? Please and thank you.
Seriously now, I will recommend this book to anyone with creative endeavors. Will probably make this my whole personality for the foreseeable future. I was a fan of Mr. King from before, but this has definitely sealed the deal.

“In truth, I’ve found that any day’s routine interruptions and distractions don’t much hurt a work in progress and may actually help it in some ways. It is, after all, the dab of grit that seeps into an oyster’s shell that makes the pearl, not pearl-making seminars with other oysters.”
This guy is A FREAKING KING. 😱

Dramatic battles, tense political intrigue, unique world building...and is that maybe some romance I'm sensing? These books are not Romantasy but focus primarily on the SFF elements. Romance is a subplot and may not appear until later in the series, but when it does, you won't be disappointed.

Chilling to the bone. And what a way to paint the terror, struggle and fear of researching a topic that is so dangerous.
I need to read more on the topic of Nakba. Can someone please recommend more historical fiction? Thank you

An introduction to Historical Fiction, these books are part of the cultural zeitgeist or the 'canon' that many would recognize. Look for more niche titles in later Starter Pack volumes.

I am impressed and sad and emotional and scared at the same time.
I need to talk to people about this book.
The ending was terrifying - it reminded me of what some people say about drowning - that it happens in silence so the disappearances happen the same here and the acceptance in the end, no struggle - was just eerie and sad.

I have to say... this is highly entertaining. Because of the way it's written, it reads like a novel, not as boring non-fiction. I know a lot of people don't go for non-fiction on the regular, but this particular brand of books that reads like a novel is really cool!

I'm not sure if I should continue with this? Does this get any better? I feel like the story could have been more condensed so far - it's a bit slow in progress and I sometimes enjoy the style -- as a lot of other people pointed, I too believe that it reads like a classic -- but man, I read this at bedtime and I can't get through 1-2 chapters before I nod off. Is it just me or is this book putting me to sleep? 👀
