Hello readers! I can feel a bit of a slump coming up because it’s starting to feel like a routine of picking a book up, rather than actually WANTING to 🥲
As by the caption of this post, I’m looking for fantasy / romantasy recommendations 💕 (I also like sapphic stories!)
I don’t like overly smutty / spicy books such as fourth wing and acotar. I’ll read a book where it has a small amount of spice I can easily skip over.
I love ✨ :
royal / medieval fantasy Fae / folk fantasy Themes of war Kingdoms Books that have elements of romance, but where it isn’t the main focus. Redhead mmc’s 🤞🏻
My favourite reads for a look at my taste😋 :
The folk of the air series (The cruel prince) once upon a broken heart caraval Red queen Shadow and bone trilogy throne of glass The shepherd king duology (one dark window)

Sadly I don’t think that I am the target audience for this duology, or series. At first I was enjoying it, but the series played out a lot differently than I expected and despite it being an adult fantasy, it feels a lot more juvenile for me.
Of course I will continue and finish this book because I still like it a bit, but sadly It just isn’t really for me

Heyy!! I am just curious, what is your least favorite hype book? Mine is powerless.

DNF at page 166. (2024 read)

DNF at page 18. (2025 read)
Yeah, page 18. Maybe a bit unreasonable to be making a review, however I just knew from the first chapter that I was done with this series. I don’t know what I was thinking at the time when I bought onyx storm after I had hated Iron flame. I guess the hype of a new book release got to me at the time.
The characters? awful. Well, Xaden and Violet. They’re genuinely one of the worst two characters I’ve ever seen in fantasy, and the fact that we have to deal with about 600 pages and 3 books of them is gruesome. I hate them and I was lowkey rooting for them to die at one point 🤣 The background characters are a lot more enjoyable, however.
I shelved this book as DNF in 2025, and haven’t picked up this series since then. So I can’t make a detailed review unfortunately. But I can remember my utter hatred for our two main characters and the way the plot was executioned. The plot idea was amazing, but unfortunately Rebeccas writing didn’t do it justice.

How long do you have to go, and how little do you have to read for you PERSONALLY to call it a reading slump?
Like I typically read EVERY day for at least1-3 hours. So if I go more than a few days without reading that much, I consider it a slump.
Before today, I'd gone at least 4-5 days without reading for more than at least 1.5 hrs, and I thought I was heading into a major slump.
But I started re-listening to an old favorite of mine last night. And now it's only 8pm and I've read at least 1.5 hrs. 😁 🤷♀️ My mind is an odd place, lol. Guess I just needed a comfort read.

As a mood reader, I often look around my (very, very wonderfully full!) shelves and find I am not quite in the mood to read a single book on them. I love gathering more recommendations to add to the ever growing pile (and to cater for niche moods and vibes!), so I love to ask people what’s on their shelf to read next.
What is the next book on your TBR/reading plan?
