Thank you A.R Schilling for allowing me to receive an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This book is filled with a dark whimsy and an optimistic sunshine princess. Even if she is half dead and fully cursed. Wednesday is cursed to save her kingdom. She has spent her whole life being forced to try and break it, but only one person can truly help her.

The world is dark, lush, and whimsical. As someone who has always been obsessed with Corpse Bride, it truly does give that vibe which is amazing. And honestly I think we could all stand to be a little more like Wednesday. She is so optimistic and tries to have a good outlook even in the most dire of situations. There is a lot of lore that we have yet to explore and I cannot wait for the second book!

“That vows were binding. Never to offer or accept one unless I was certain it was not a snare. Wedding vows often fell prey to such danger.”

so gods can’t break promises but they can kill their direct family members? i’m confused but i’m intrigued…

Not gonna lie, the last 50 pages were like a rollercoaster of emotions nd now I don't know what to think lmao! I'm only worried that it will end on a cliffhanger or a major plot twist and I don't have the second book yet! If you read it, you can let me know if I'm right 😭

Thank you NetGalley and Random House Children's Books for allowing me to receive an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

The kingdom of Florent prepares itself for the Ignition: a solar event that turns humans into dragons. Claire is one such human. When she turned her life was turned to ashes in the midst of her dragon fire. She is trying to find a cure and surviving by any means possible. Her search leads her to Able, a disgraced dragon hunter for his unorthodox and frankly disturbing research. Together they will set upon a journey that is much larger than themselves and maybe more than they bargained for.

Let me start by saying that I did enjoy this book. But I do wish a few things had been different? Without spoiling, Ables research is brutal. I feel like there may need to be a trigger warning for that bit of the book if there is not? It is very brief thankfully, but worth mentioning.

On to things I enjoyed! You have these two main characters who find each other when they both have nothing left and they form a genuine connection. Also Lucy the firefox?? I am obsessed! She is so cute. The pacing was very well done and did not feel too rushed or too slow. The lore was unique and I did not see that plot twist coming at the end. I hope to see more from this author!
