Thank you to Angela Montoya for the E-ARC, it's such an honor to be part of her street team and I truly cannot wait for you guys to read this soon!
Carnival Fantástico is a book you do not want to miss.
Esmeralda and Ignacio are so incredibly charming, their love story truly is magical. I love a second chance romance with childhood friends included. It's truly magical, I loved seeing their friendship from the letters to their reunion.
Their nicknames for each other, the yearning, the spectacle! DIVINEEEE
This book is so good, the plot and mystery are intriguing and you simply can't put it down. I literally consumed in one whole sitting. I LOVE The Greatest Showman, it's one of my fav movies. Reading this sent me back to the first time I watched the movie and that made me so giddy.
I am hoping we see more of this world! I really love how it's inspired by Aztec Mythology, mi gente Mexicana are so creative. It's an honor truly.

Margarita Engle is truly one of my favorite YA poets. Her work is incredibly heart touching and educational.
Love is the fuel for the fight. This story is one of Immigration, Wildlife, Political prisoners, Climate Crisis, and the beauty of all forms of art.
A very important read to understanding the concept of censorship in the arts.
Truly such an incredible book that needs to be SHARED.

The Art of Huda F continues!
I have so much admiration and respect for the way Huda F discusses topics of Mental Health within Muslim and Immigrant communites. The way she incorporates mental health practices using Muslim practices reminds us of why it is so incredibly important to have a diverse field of Mental Health Psychologist who are able to integrate mental health alongside cultural practices.
My parents also went through a divorce, I was much younger that Huda F and come from a different religious background, but went through a similar process. Grief has and will never be linear whether its in death, loss, or grievance.
Once again, I cannot recommend the Huda F series enough!!!

What was the original plot of the story? Ngl I kinda zoned out while listening to this audiobook.
It also didn’t help that I read like 30% of it in November and then continued a couple months later.
I’m confused? I don’t really know but that ending has me feeling curious as to what’s to come.
Also someone set Gabriel free cause he was just crashing out through this entire book.

Thank you Netgalley and Putnam!
The Starter Ex is a laugh-out loud romance, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days is funny but what's funnier and better is a Puerto Rican original!
Vanessa is back to NYC meant to flip over a new leaf, Vanessa is ready to amend some of the complex relationships she left behind, one of them being with her younger sister, Lisa.
After Lisa discovers Vanessa secret side gig as a Starter Ex, Lisa has a clear goal in mind: Do one last Starter Ex gig. The twist? Date Lisa's childhood best friends brother, Jason with the intention of making him fall in love with Lisa.
Vanessa begrudgingly agrees, but what happens when the chemistry between her and Jason is impossible to deny? And why does pushing him away bring him back closer than ever?..
I was so scared to pick up this up because I thought it was a love triangle book but I can confirm it is not!
Jason challenges Vanessa's intentional hurdles and he doesn't give in, in fact, that man is a fighter and antagonizer! Together, they are deadly menaces. You'll laugh with them throughout the entire book.
I wish this book had been longer but given that this was originally adapted as a Amazon Original Audiobook I understand that the pacing from audiobook to print would be different.
I'm someone who loves a full rounded ending and this book didn't quite execute well. I would have loved seeing a bit more content from Vanessa and Jason at the very end.
The plot twist regarding Lisa made me cackle. I recognize a fellow community member a mile away.
Overall, this is a very fun romcom to pass the time with. I want to def give the OG audiobook a go, I feel like it would be a blast!
