This one was definitely interesting. I think I wasn't in the right mood for it and I want to give it a better chance some time when I'm in the mood for something this dark. I enjoyed it a lot more than the other book I read by this author.

This book is so beautiful and relatable if you've had children. I hope for those who haven't and give it a chance they get a little glimpse into different birth experiences and emotions related to the experiences.

"The badass in me/salutes the badass in you." I hope she told the parents this because it's amazing.

Hah! A very funny one for any mom who has gone through natural childbirth!

Some of these raise questions for me and I love that. This midwife shared enough to show the struggles but not enough that the people most impacted would feel too much had been shared.
I'm curious if Harlow's birth ended in a C-Section and can imagine the struggle that was if the parents had been hoping for a vaginal birth.

Just reading the introduction to this book feels so authentic and like I know it's going to touch a lot of feelings for me. As a birthing parent, I love hearing other people's birth stories and sharing my own so getting to read such succinct outside views of other people's births from a provider who clearly cares deeply feels special already.
I also find the commentary and explanation of how she handles Haiku rules interesting. I want to make sure I'm culturally sensitive to the culture that developed Haiku but I also very much enjoy rule breaking that still follows a structure.

This book is adorable. It's definitely a strong read for kids struggling with identity and fitting in. I think it's got a super appropriate amount of crushes. If there are any adults concerned that one of the main characters has crushes on adults, the adult that becomes aware of it in the book handles it extremely well. My one critique is that the title could be a struggle for some kids, it gets addressed in the book that the name of the camp isn't inclusive enough but I have also heard some people dislike that version of the acronym for a variety of reasons. I think it's cute and fun but I could see it being a draw back, so I hope that readers can get past that and dig into reading the book.
