Honestly, there where points to this where I was like "that could have been fleshed out more" but overall I loved the story telling the lore the tiny masterful Easter eggs dropped throughout and only in pivotal points will you realise wow that's why he did that.
All the characters are growing before us. And there's many scenes where Sanderson crafts his plot twists midway and not like the usual 'omg that was powerful' moments.
Can't wait for the next one!

The twist in the end is probably the only thing that made this work for me. I'll decide later if I will bump up the rating by .5 as I am thinking that's not really fair to my last read.
Most of this story was a chase to find the stones and while it is better than book 1, I still don't think the character's romance is believable. I have to remind myself how old Evangeline is.
As for the world I did like it but far from being a top tier read. Again we get introduced to characters throughout the book but they are an afterthought like Petra. Only the mystery behind the Valors were reveals but only just a bit, enough to make me forget the throw-away of Jack's old friends.
I'm seriously getting crumbs from story development and plot. At least this book had an end (or two).
Did I like it? It was okay. Was it of quality? Not really. Was the plot enough to let me read on? Only because of that ending.

This took longer for me to finish. But overall I really enjoyed this. The pacing was alright and as usual so many scenes that pack a lot of action.
It felt like this was the final book? And when I first heard of Red Rising I always thought it would be a trilogy. Just felt like it was as the end of this book.
OK so the only thing I will critique is the relationships. 😅 Without saying much some of the relationships have been fast-tracked in the background. I don't know how to feel about that.
So much highs and lows in this. Keep reading!
I will probably take a break before getting into the next book. It's been a wild ride.
