Everyone will be happy to hear that the part that was making me fall out of the story ended like three pages after my last complaint and now we’re fully back in swing with the interesting stuff. 😆

I fucking loved this book. I devoured the second half. I loved reading these characters - they were SO interesting. Their decisions were so human and frustrating and stupid but in very real ways. In a good way. It didn’t end how I expected it to but I think it suited the story and it was quite perfect in a way. So interesting!!! And excited to read more from this author.

Hi! This is my first post here—I am still trying to get used to the app. I just finished Sunrise On The Reaping and I absolutely adored it. I am looking for recommendations on what to read next! I would love a book that has the same emotional core and potent allegories, but I am also open to hearing about any books you have read recently that really struck a chord with you! Please share <3

This book stumbles in the parts where too much setup and characterization is required, so particularly the beginning and the epilogue, but it truly soars when we’re deep in the action and Vishny’s atmospheric descriptions paint such an immediate and visceral scene. And I can absolutely imagine an immersive theater version of Alan Ginsberg’s Kaddish, I hope somebody actually takes a stab at that someday it could be incredible.

I love reading a book that takes place in the current season, and I didn’t even realize this one was also set in early/mid November. Perfect.
