  • Books that've turned you off of genres?

Hello! Super random question but I do need to know this: have you guys ever read a book where, no matter how much you love the genre/subgenre, after you read it you didn't want to even look at another one of its ilk for at least a month? This hasn't happened to me in quite some time, but I can think of some examples:

    1. Well Met by Jen DeLuca—I was really excited when this came out, read it and absolutely despised its ending. I then proceeded to barely read any romance for 5 months afterwards (the pandemic did have me crawling back)
    2. The Mask of Mirrors by M.A. Cerrick—I really enjoy political fantasies but I actively disliked the pacing, which is a shame because it does have a woo-woo magic system that's pretty cool if you're into astrology and/or tarot divination. This fantasy cleanse lasted 4 months where I spent most of that time reading manga lol
    3. Just about every paranormal mystery/romance series—If you, like me, occasionally get the urge to read one of these every 6 months or so, you know that reading these can be so fun until you get to books 5-∞ and they remind you of why you do not return to the genre often.

These are mine, what are some of yours? Were there any books which healed your wounds after getting so badly burned?

Absoultely LOVED this book. It's 100% between my favorites. It might not be everyone's genre, but I honestly would recommend it to anyone. I like how sometimes the story interrupted to talk about the mc's memories like it was actually her thoughts wandering, and overall I felt as if everyone was very human, in a way, I feel like I could've known all of these people in my own life. I am curious about Moira, like, VERY curious and I will 100% read The Testaments! (I am pretty sure that's the name of the second book?)

    Fantasy book recss!!!

I really like fantasy as a genre but I feel like I haven't read much of it lately, does anyone know what I could read to get more into it? Also, not a requirement but I also wanted to get into romance a bit more, so maybe a fantasy book with a romance subplot would be great!!
