I mean, it wasn't not good. Unfortunately I has to mark it down half a star overall because it bared and uncanny resemblance from the Duplicity fanfiction.
The moody, mysterious MMC who was dragged into a life of crime as a teenager? He has anxiety attacks and an abusive/toxic father figure? He kills people and moves drugs as part of his work?
Not to mention the token "good girl" that he's dragged into his life.
Even some of the scenes were similar e.g. the drug induced state and cleaning him up, worried he was going to die.
I still enjoyed it, I just wish it wasn't so similar that I couldn't get it out of my head š«£ I'm hoping the next two books don't continue with the same similarities and it gets its own story.

Okay where on earth do i start?
Took me a moment to get into, but i find this always happens with the first book in a series. After about 50% I absolutely flew through it, I honestly couldn't get enough.
I understand people's frustrations with Diem, but it's how she was raised and the life she has lead up until now. The girl is a people pleaser but she has fire in her belly and I'll be surprised if we don't get female rage from her in the rest of the series.
Did I guess a few of the twists? Yes but that didnt stop be from screaming when they happened because there's nothing more satisfying than telling your imaginary audience "I TOLD YOU SO".
Special shout out to Luther. The yearning from this man was exquisite and I need more, more, more ā¤ļø
P.s. Henri is a dick.

It was fine, I guess. I usually love Penelope Douglas and her writing, so picking this up was a no brainer for me. It was easy to read, not as much spice as I would have liked and towards the end it was just a bit too fluffy and cosy for me. Maybe it was just because I've read Credence and The Devil's Night series previously and they just felt a bit more intense. I enjoyed it, I just wasn't wowed by it.

Anyone here who feels like they're missing out a lot when they see people reading the books they badly want to read?
Don't get me wrong, I am really happy, amazed, and proud that you guys can read those books, and you read fast. But I'm also jealous because why do I read too slowly??? I can only read a maximum of 5 books in a month if they are less than 400 pages. So yeah, it's a me problem: "Too many books to read, but too little time to read."ššš
