Ciao Bookaholics!
Here is your question of the day (its a bit philosophical so be prepared...):
Do you think people read to escape reality or to understand it more? 🤔

I recently DNF'd a book after getting through quite a bit of it and it reminded me of a convo I once had with my sisters.
We were pretty much on the same page about DNF-ing books we simply just weren't enjoying, as we all knew lots people who felt shackled to a book the minute they opened it. I was talking about how I only recently freed myself of that mindset and said something like "yeah, I got over 70% through a pretty boring book before I remembered I have free will and ditched it" One of my sisters then says if I got that far I might as well have seen it through???
lol anyways I was wondering how everyone else feels about this? Do you think there's a "cut-off" point where DNF-ing is ✌🏾allowed✌🏾 and if so what % do you think it is?

can yall read at your job? i have two jobs. i bartend on saturday nights so obviously im not reading then but i also have a regular 9-5 in the social work field monday-friday. although i have busy days here sometimes there’s just absolutely no need for me to be here 8 hours a day so if my stuff is done… i read. i banged out a ton this week and since its friday i have basically nothing left to do (knock on wood… now that i say that it’ll be chaos 😭) but no seriously im hoping to plow my way through my current book today before i clock out. i even got an ereader so its more discrete (not that anyone would say anything, my stuff stays done but). but yea do yall read at work? if so, what days do you get the chance to read the most at work? fridays are usually pretty laid back for me.
sidebar: why does it feel more socially acceptable to be caught on your phone at work rather than reading? 😭😭

Very rarely is it that I think a movie or show adaptation of a book is better than the actual book, but I watched Sweetpea and really enjoyed the show and decided to pick up the book and I really, really hated it lmao
Is there a movie or a show that you think was way better than the book it's based off? I'm also looking for new movies and shows to watch so... 👀
