I admit I have been unaware of Atwood's poetry until this memoir - another adventure to be had. There is certainly an interwoven nature within her works.

I've avoided Amazon for some years, but it can be hard work. I was wondering if a listings page, organised by country, of indie booksellars would be useful for people? In the UK high street independent bookshops are now few and far between, especially smaller ones. Would be great to make it easier to support them. Loving this app by the way!

If I were a novelist, or even poet, just starting out, wanting to be published, this would be a really good read. The journey Atwood is sharing is one so far from instant fame. The dogged determination needed to get your work out into the public realm. Not only that, it showcases her lifetime of detail observation that makes her work so engaging. And still chuckling over a third in.

Walking in the bright winter sun my mind wandered to my latest go-to CD (stay with me folks), new from Brandi Carlile. She has written about her dear friend Joni Mitchell and I pondered if Atwood and Mitchell have ever met and would they either get on like a house on fire or be completely at odds?
Maybe this will happen in the memoir, maybe not, but for now, as Atwood moves further into adulthood, we are hearing of increasing numbers of influences for her work, particularly those observations and experiences that shaped Handmaid's Tale. Still chuckling out loud, though with adulthood darker matters are rearing their heads.
