I feel like this book was setting up the world and overall story as the plot for this book wasn’t very action packed and only picked up toward the end. Even so, I enjoyed the writing style and it was a super quick read.
Looking at other reviews it seems like it gets more interesting in the later books so I am intrigued enough to give the next book a go as the world does seem like it has a bit more going on and I sense/am hoping the main character will have a lot of character development.

An introduction to the Fantasy genre, these books are part of the cultural zeitgeist or the 'canon' that many would recognize. Look for more niche titles in later Starter Pack volumes.

Picked this book up because the movie is coming out next year. Had no clue about what it was about and was expecting something similar to The Martian movie.
I really enjoyed the humor and writing style. It’s very different to what I normally read and found it was not at all what I expected! Pulled my heartstrings at times with how wholesome some parts were ✨

This book went straight into the action and didn’t stop. So many themes that parallel with our society and make you dwell on the injustices of the world. Such a brutal book but I loved every bit of it.

Ripped my heart to pieces. Once I got a handle on the world building, I could really get into the book. It kept the same feel as manacled but absolutely stands on its own.
