I read college, I thought College. It was, in fact, high school (secondary school because its set in ireland). Now I cant say much because i was reading some risqué stuff when I was 16 which is age minimum recommended for this book, but that was online. I was a little shocked that the language and descriptions used while including minors in a physical published book. Nothing happened on screen, I imagine because minors are involved, so nothing to clutch my pearls over.
This book had some good moments, but a lot of it was really repetitive. Shannon is so tiny, Johnny is so huge. Shannon is fragile, broken, damaged. Johnny is the golden boy. Even this comparison bit I'm doing is used again and again in the book, sound familiar?
It was a decent slow burn, repetition aside. They seemed to take their time. Though the passage of time wasn't really felt, and I thought some the banter dialogue was very...forced. some parts I did like, but once I got my singular laugh I got tired of the back and forth.
All that being said, I got exactly what i wanted out of it. If you miss teen drama novels on wattpad, this book is it. Its quite good at being a wattpad-esque novel, but that doesn't make it a good book.
