Loved the suspense, kept me on the edge of my seat. The writing was great, I couldn't put it down until the end.

Didn't love all the twists towards the end, but I enjoyed it as a whole.

Certainly one of my favourite Poe stories. It's the kind of horror story that haunts you to the core, you feel disoriented at first, and then horrified by the reality of the situation, while it gets worse and worse as the narration builds up towards the finale.

Like so many others, I read this (and other stories of the series) at school. I didn't even own the books, just borrowed them from the public library and they made me fall in love with literature overall. Rereading them as an adult, I see what I enjoyed so much about them. Three kids running around, solving mysteries and having their own fortress? Yes, please.
