hello all,
as the year ends I want to know what were some of your worst reads and why? we often discuss our best and next reads but I want to know how bad a book was that you dnfed it and/or skipped the whole author completely!
itās so interesting to see how people rate/ comprehend books differently.

Hi everyone! As a quick note - I HAAAAATE AI with every fiber of my being... It's ruining art spaces and creating a huge ecological and socio-ecological issue by using up fresh water resources and taking from the neighborhoods where the data centers are placed in (mainly POC neighborhoods).
My friends and I, as well as quite a few people in my BookTok comments, were talking about the new "Dork Diaries" covers (the Full-Color editions for anyone not aware) and how, even if they aren't completely ai, they have the look and appeal of ai art. The original author being credited as the illustrator even though the art style is completely left field from any of her other art/books/etc. doesn't help the accusations either...
Flipping through the previews of the book on the official DD website and seeing the way the images are crafted in the book proper also leads me to believe that it was possibly rendered in (or created) using ai...
As a person who hates ai and doesn't believe it should be in art or book spaces, I'd love to hear everyone's opinions on these new covers, and on authors/publishers who use ai to create illustrations and cover art instead of hiring an actual artist.
I think cover artists and graphic designers are a key component to a good book. Books are indeed judged by their cover. I don't believe ai should take the place of an actual person... EVER.
