I read Manacled, and I can 100% confirm that this book has done a decent job of severing itself of its origin as an HP fan fiction. Yes, there are similarities, but Iāve finally gotten over the halfway mark, and I think the author accomplished shaping their story as something new. Not sure where all the hate around this book is coming from. Sure, there are some areas where this book could have been polished, and itās not without some criticismā¦but itās not a bad book. I wonder if people that are hating on it are just salty that their fanfic didnāt get a book and tv deal? š

i'm embarrassed to say, i don't remember any of the first book so this will be a wild ride. also, interesting choice in the first two pages to capitalize the word "Neanderthals"? i'm excited nonetheless. this is a "lucky day" book from my library aka i only have a week from checkout to read it so i've gotta hop into it fast

DNF at 32%. This was just too much and I didnāt like the leads.

As the titles says, Iāve DNF my first book in⦠years, Iām a recovering āhate readerā that finished every book regardless. I blame it on being an English Majorš¬ There were just too many aspects of the book that I couldnāt get into & the MC wasnāt very⦠likable or relatable. Just a conflict in preferences, I think. Part of me feel so free, now that I know I donāt have to pick up the book again, but another part of me feels guilty. Why does DNF feel so bad even though forcing myself to read felt just as bad? Any remedies for making the ick go away? Thanks xoxo
