What’s a book that’s been so hyped up, only to let you down?
For me it was The Ritual by Shantel Tessier. It was so overhyped on booktok, even on goodreads (when I still used it) i remember it having a 4 star rating. I was honestly so shocked once I finished it. That book had so many plot holes and questions unanswered, all spice basically, and even the spicy scenes were not cute (fmc was drugged for half of those scenes it felt like). This is when I learned to never trust booktok again lmao

So, recent news is that one Harry Potter/Marauders fanfic "All the young dudes" apparently got bought to be traditionally published.
https://www.bookbrunch.co.uk/page/article-detail/seven-figure-auction-for-former-fanfic-at-lbf/
https://www.instagram.com/p/DVyR47ACCJU/
I can't read the full article because I'm not subscribed but what it does say that I can read is "An adaptation of All The Young Dudes has taken publishers by storm", There's also an Instagram post by bookbrunch.news talking about this more.
Now I have a lot of thoughts about this. Especially because of Alchemised being a very recent-ish and famous example of a Harry Potter fanfic getting traditionally published, one of which I have complex feelings on. Fanfic getting turned into traditionally published books is not new, but what makes the case of Alchemised different is that Senlinyu used their AO3 username which is marketing and profiting off of the fact that people know them from AO3 and know that Alchemised was originally a harry potter fanfic. People say that alchemised is so different from the fanfic work that it originated from, and even though I haven't read it (and personally don't plan to) I digress. It's not truly a separate piece of work when the author uses their AO3 username. Which also goes into fanfics supposed to be free and available for anyone, if a published author uses their AO3 fanfiction writing username that brings up a lot of legal questions about fanfictions. I mean older fanfictions people would start out with a disclaimer that the characters didn't belong to them due to Anne rice's lawsuit. Not to mention if I recall correctly, Senlinyu said they wanted alchemized to be separated from the original source, harry potter/the fanfic, but they can't do that when they use the AO3 username which ties them right back to the source.
Which if these rumors turned out to be true about All the young dudes, how will it transpire? How will they turn a very famous fanfic and make it completely separate from the OG work? Will they use their AO3 username to publish it under? I can't say I am the biggest fan of Alchemised but at least that was an AU of harry potter in a way, with all the young dudes, it isn't. It takes place directly within the universe of Harry Potter within the Marauders time era.

Imagine ,books didn't exist, and the power went off for 24 hours or more, and you lived in the middle of nowhere. No friends , nothing to play with outside , just a plain of nothing as far as your human eye could see . Edit: The sun doesn't do its normal thing anymore and rarely shines near you. The closest sunlight is 10000 km away. Sorry, I'm Canadian, and i dont know that in american
What would you do if you don't work , can't read , just the lights went out? Would you sit in the dark for 24 hours , sleep ? What would you do to spend the 24 hours or more in pitch black?
I personally would try to sleep because the sleep schedule is usually messed up thanks to reading or daylight savings or cats
Do people like my random questions to get people interacting with their minds and possibly other people
Sorry for making people think right away

I know a lot ( but not everyone ) of people are excited for the new ACOTAR books, but I am wondering if anyone has any niche/not as popular book releases ?
Mine are: unbound and undone by Peyton Corrine. Plus , champagne problems by Hannah grace , Devour me by Emily Rath and Embrace by Bal Khabra
As you can see , i might have a taste in books .
But I am wondering, dear reader ( if you know the references good job )what books of any genre are you looking for too?

✨Safe space✨ what’s something you just need to complain about (no matter how big or small). Sometimes you just gotta LET. IT. OUT.

I saw some posts on here about good vs bad books adaptations, and it got me thinking about books that probably shouldn't or can't be adapted and why.
I know before the recent Dune movie releases people were saying that it would be too difficult to make a good adaption of the book due to the scale, need for special effects, etc. (Yet, the movies turned out really really good imo.) I just finished Coldwire and that's another one that I don't think can be adapted in a way that would work well- iykyk.
What are some books that you think shouldn't or can't be adapted into a tv show or movie?

Should I continue the DC series so I can see if anyone beats Maverick as #1 atm or finish the wingman so I can read gloves off ?
Or even start the rina Kent hockey romance?

I know some books come with a playlist
Put aside the books with playlists like Butcher and Blackbird , becka mack , etc and just think about whatever you're reading or about to read.
If you could what song(s) would you put on a playlist for that book? Or have you made a playlist for it yourself?
If you don't want to do that , I have another question for you then:
What would be your own playlist if you could write a book or song? Or what is a song that reminds you of your current read ?
Question help was from a friend. Thank you Lucy
