A not so simple question for you all Pagebound. Who turned you into a lifelong reader?
A teacher, a family member, a librarian? Can you remember what book it was that turned the light on?
My main reading influence was my maternal Grandmother and Aunt who used to read to me when they looked after me as a child and teen (to help with writing and language issues). The book that made me read as a teen was eitherPeeling the Onion by Wendy Orr or The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton.

There are a bunch of books that Iāve read, either as a kid or before I actively tracked what Iāve read.
And Iām just wondering how everyone is handling that? Are you putting it as read and leaving the dates as I donāt know? Are you rereading?
I originally wanted to reread but now Iām wondering if thatās an objectively insane thing to do š

I havenāt kept a TBR list in a couple of years. I really just went with vibes. Since joining Pagebound at the beginning of January Iāve started keeping one. Andddddd itās getting a little out of control š„² I love the ease PB makes it to keep a TBR shelf, the fact that you can plan out your readings, yet I still feel really overwhelmed.
How do you decide what youāll read next?
How does library/libby availability impact your book order?
How many books is too many on a TBR? Is there such thing?

The Best I Never Had: A Novel

I am listening to the audiobook while I crochet and knit so it's going to be slow going since I don't get to do those things every single day, but it's nice to have one specific thing to listen to while doing my crafts š„° I've never read this poem in English, either, but I did translate it in my high school AP Latin class! Very excited to revisit it and hear someone else's polished / professional translation. I'm especially excited for the beehive metaphor in book 2, that scene has stayed with me all these years. Still need to get through the very long intro and book 1!

I realized the books I reach for to reread are not even my favorite books but they are more comfort reads. I usually can't put into words why I love them so much but every time I read them, they heal a part of my soul if that makes sense?
Some of my rereads are
I also reread some books I thought were great or want to re-experience but so far, I've read the ones above at least 3-4 times each and as someone who rarely rereads fiction that's a LOT.
So why do y'all reread fiction? What are some weird books you keep going back to?

How is it that most times, when I check and English book on Amazon, the most expensive copy is the kindle one. I swear. So many times.
And while most times the hard copy is the most expensive, too often it's less expensive or as expensive as the flexible one.
Do y'all just never buy the flexible copy?
Edit: I was informed it isn't called flexible copy, but paperback

Does anyone else plan ahead and buy their bookish friends books for either upcoming holidays, like Christmas or Hanukkah? Or their birthdays?
Crickets Crickets Crickets
Just me? š„ŗ
I don't know. I just think it's always fun to kind of plan ahead and find books you think or know they might be interested in. For instance, one of my friends who is also on this app and I will not be mentioning, Love's anime manga but I'm also trying to get her into culinary cozies so anything to do with baking or cats or cheese I'm thinking she would like. Another friend, she's kind of into horror, but she also likes muddy monster romance so trying to balance that is a bit of a juggling act. So how does everyone else plan or not plan their bookish gifting for their friends and family? Do you go all out or do you just make it up as you go along? And then there's the actual wrapping and getting the present ready, which is always so much fun. Anyway, would love to hear all your thoughts and feelings and such on the subject.
