Problematic Summer Romance

respectfullyâanyone who said this was too heavy-handed needs to do some research on the modern white power movement.
the role of women and social media are central to the growth of white power ideologies (neo nazism, christian nationalism, the modern klan, etc) and this book perfectly exemplified how insidious the core tenets of instagram tradwife content are, and how it quietly but persistently promotes white power.

I kept getting videos in my YouTube recommend that were about why this book didn't work or why people disliked it. Naturally, I was intrigued but chose not to watch any of them until I read the book myself. I expected to be disappointed just based on what I'd seen, but that was very fortunately not the case. I very much enjoyed this book. I can definitely see why so many people dislike this book, but I had a great time reading it and I know I'm an odd one out but this was, in my opinion, a great read.

a thriller with a great execution that treats its sensitive subject matter delicately, features sensible characters that make smart decisions, includes autism rep that really rubbed me the right way and concludes with an ending that wasnât muddled at all

I was given a free e-arc of this book by the author and I am so grateful for it.
I absolutely adored this book. The magic system, the worldbuilding, the politics, everything. I'm also a sucker for found family and boy did this book deliver. The ending had me in tears in the best way. I loved all of the characters, but if I'm being completely honest, my favorite was Wattie, but I'm a huge cat person. I'm also a plant person so this was all right up my alley. I can't wait to read more
