Never have I felt such existential despair when reading a book. I felt like crying but just couldn’t. An absolutely incredible piece of speculative fiction that gives away none of its secrets, for what secrets can it give? We only know a little more than the women as we too can only guess why they were imprisoned and why there is nothing. Only slightly more educated than them. A truely brilliant novel.
