I want to love this book. Suzanne Collins is one of my favorite authors! This just doesn't hit for me like the other books in her series do. I don't think it's her writing or the quality of the book, I just think that I cannot connect with Snow. If I am in an evil b*****d's brain, then i want to feel the evil creeping in and slowly taking over. I want to want to save him. I just found him so boring and his motivations didn't make a ton of sense for me. Like i get the parallel between him and Katniss both being hungry and doing what they have to do to survive, but he just didn't make a compelling or believable case to me. Idk. Maybe I will give it a reread down the road and see if it grows on me.

This is one of the best fictional depictions of untreated OCD I've ever read. It is a beautiful story with immersive imagery. I am so upset I waited this long to read Shirley Jackson. She is the master of unveiling the horrors of everyday life in a small town and the monstrosity that lives in all people.

This is my first Liz Moore read and it lives up to the hype. The setting of the story really immerses the reader and provides an anchor for the multiple timelines/perspectives/time jumps. My one complaint is that there are SO many perspectives to read from. When first starting the book, I felt like I needed to take notes to keep track of who each narrator was, but around halfway through it becomes easy to navigate and is a worthwhile aspect of the book. I feel like most of the characters got the closure they deserved but I found Alice's end lacking, which is kinda fitting for her character. Overall, a beautiful story with a satisfying conclusion with the overarching theme of Eat The Rich.
