Though this book has some useful tips sprinkled in it (though nothing profound), I found something about Mel’s advice and the way she delivered her messages irritating and at times triggering. I had my suspicions as to why she was triggering that sort of response in me but gave it a chance and kept reading. However, a single line on page 239 made this an instant DNF for me unfortunately. That one sentence told me everything I need to know about the wisdom and quality of this woman’s advice and all of the things rubbing me the wrong way that I couldn’t put my finger on became clear. Would not recommend to anyone who is working through any depth of trauma, especially related to their parents.

Amazing read 😍

Story premise was intriguing, what with the ability of some characters to transform into Raven(s) and such. I just feel the execution was lacking. I didn’t connect much or really feel much of anything toward the characters but frustration (especially the FMC, good God). The relationships lacked depth. And the quality of the writing overall was lacking for me as well. I was even finding multiple spelling errors 😬 However I will say, despite all that… the ending still had me curious about book 2 dang nab it…

I had such high hopes for this book a few chapters in! But by the halfway point I feel like the plot and depth took a nosedive. The ending felt rushed and didn’t make sense in relation to how the characters were presented in the beginning of the book. Still was a quick read despite the page count.

Holy darkness. Very dark, depressing read. Felt like the ending was rushed but it fit the unfairness Mina faced the entire series and the pace events unfolded throughout the entire series.
