Shmish finished reading and wrote a review...
So, I was enjoying the book until Tem (I think we could do a drinking game with Tem's name) started to really annoy the shit out of me. And ofc the constant sex gets old real quick but that's not even the main issue. A few spoilers ahead that will confuse you... . . The story is about sex, and basilisks that do everything through sex, and have council meetings where sex is seen as something powerful, and they give claw-dildos to the ones they love, and that's all ok. Really! 🧐 I enjoyed those unhinged parts because they were different and made me laugh a lot! The issue is, from a certain point it gets really badly written, the characters are pooly constructed, the main character is insufferable and annoying, and in the middle of all that I think the prince was the only one that stayed consistent and real, and I ended up liking him.
It was hard to not DNF this book because it pained me to be in Tem's head. But I was already invested so 🤣🤷♀️ Yeah, 2.5⭐
Now for those that already read:
Tem didn't even CARE about her father in the end wtf? XD And during all that confusion at the end she didn't even TRIED to look for her best friend and her mother! I can't with this girl...
To me the claw-dildo opened a whole new world and nothing really surprised me after that. The ritual, the council meeting, the cannibalism at the end, I was just 'meh, I guess' xD
Some fav. quotes/parts:
'His cum was something between a liquid and a solid, thick and shiny, a handful of liquified pearls. Its beautiful, she whispered.' - sooo poetic 🤌
'She stopped with the tapered tip still visible, curved up against the most sensitive part of her.' - like that string of the tampon? Pahahaha
'Tem felt the smooth dome. It was shaped like a mushroom and just as soft.' - told this one to my boyfriend, he didn't find it funny 🍄
And let's not talk about the claw-dildos, the group orgasm, the council meeting 👅 and so on 🤣

This is probably the first in the series I'm kind of excited to read. It was hard for me to pick up the second one, and a little easier for the third but this is the first one where I am actively ready. I think the last book won me over!
