I picked this book up at the right time. I laughed so hard and I really needed it. This is my favorite so far out of the Big Shots series. Robbie and Skylar were a match made in enemies to friends to lovers instalove heaven. If you don’t immediately remember Robbie from books 1-3, he’s one half of the Orgasm Donor twin rookies. He doesn’t stop being ridiculous, but his character fleshes out into hidden depths as the story moves forward. Skylar is Elton’s little sister (the baseball guy that made a move on Chloe) and a D1 softball player for Boston University. I loved Robbie’s heart and lack of cynicism. He’s not an angsty, brooding hero. He’s the human personification of an excited squeal. He fanboys over his hockey heroes, has a really gross love of Stouffer’s Lasagna, and is hardcore loyal. When he falls in love, he’s all in- and he’ll take any in he can get. Even if it means pretending to be his new crush’s date to a family event to help her make another guy jealous. He actually reminds me a little of Deadpool- with the crack hilarity, internal narrative, and the intensity of his goal chasing lol. Skylar is a badass bitch. Her first words to Robbie are, “Fuck you.” (To his delight.) She’s been playing with the boys all her life and grew up in a hella competitive family. She doesn’t take any shit. So when this tool who was openly bragging about the night before’s conquests starts to hit on her- she’s not having any of it. And omg, the way she shuts him out! I was cracking up so hard. (“Cannibalism,” will absolutely be my next way to shut down a badly aimed, “So what are you into?” in the future.) In the middle of a coffee/OJ date with Robbie to make good on a bet she lost, Skylar learns that her partner for her family’s yearly version of the Strong Man competition can’t make it. The only solution? To take home this near stranger and let him pretend to be her boyfriend. Totally sane, right? It doesn’t matter. Read it anyways. You’ll laugh a lot and have to fan yourself more than a couple of times. 🔥🔥🔥🧯
