A perfect blend of demons, sensuality, anger, revenge, beauty and her own mythology. I think I've fallen in love with Tanith Lee's writing style. What a beautiful way of telling a story!
I didn't know Flat Earth would be such a rich and well-developed world, so it's been a wonderful surprise. I can't believe I hadn't heard of this author before.
Before reading, please be aware that this is a dark fantasy novel and some scenes in the book include sensitive topics. Also, it is not a single story, more like a collection of tales that intertwine to shape the world.

There's too much of Ruth and not enough of Jiko.
Maybe if it weren't for the cat, I'd like Ruth better, but as the book went on, she struck me as increasingly childish and cruel. "It'll be your fault if he gets eaten", or the way she calls someone a loser when she feels attacked. In the end, all the characters seem to have grown in some way, except for her and Oliver.
The book isn't bad, but it deals with topics that not everyone might want to read about, such as bullying, abuse, suicide, prostitution, war and attempted rape. It also contains a lot of information on Buddhism, which I found very interesting, as well as several reflections on life and time.
This might be a spoiler for some people, so I'm putting it here at the end. It's magical realism, so there's a bit of "magic" in some parts.
